Chinese Huawei Technologies have recently added two WiMAX network deals in the Asian region to its roster of worldwide WiMAX contracts. Malaysia WiMAX licensee Asiaspace have selected Huawei as the supplier of end-to-end WiMAX solution for the company's wireless broadband network. Asiaspace aims to provide WiMAX service to 40% of the Malaysian population by 2010. As per the contract, Huawei will be in charge of design and installation of base stations, gateways, and management systems for Asiaspace's network, Cellular-news reported.

Meanwhile in Pakistan, major GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) operator Mobilink has signed a contract with Huawei for the deployment of a commercial WiMAX 16e network, according to TMCnet. The first-phase network is projected to cover the central business districts and hot spots of six major Pakistani cities, including the capital Islamabad, the largest city Karachi, and Lahore. Mobilink will leverage Huawei's comprehensive WiMAX solution. Deliverables include distributed base stations, an access service network gateway, and a network management system.
